Building a sustainable life for you and your family is a lifelong project that can produce a high degree of personal satisfaction while positively impacting your friends, family, neighbors and community. I believe each person and family has a moral obligation to do their best to make the world a better place for us all.
To this end, towseyfrench.com is an experience-driven collection of opinions and articles documenting my family’s quest to build a sustainable life in the city of Portland, Oregon. Specifically, posts on this site fall within three key categories:
These categories represent the three areas of human existence that consume the greatest amount of energy and have the greatest impact on the planet. Subsequently, these categories also represent the greatest opportunity for each of us to reduce our negative impact, increase our positive impact, and improve the quality of life for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
Within the scope of the categories listed above, you’ll see that I write about all things sustainable, local and/or community oriented. This includes transportation issues (mass transit, cycling, walking, car-sharing, etc.), walkable communities, community supported food and agriculture, gardening, water catchment, energy (bio-diesel, oil, solar, geo, natural gas, wood), etc.
