Carrier Pigeon Diary 15

I finally got around to swapping out the cog on Big Beef as planned. Thank goodness for Joe (at Joe Bike) for sending over his mechanic to my office today to perform the final swap of the cog. I had the tools and the stand, but not the confidence to deal with the hub effectively. Joe’s mechanic showed up on his bike and had Big Beef up and running with two extra teeth in no time. He also showed me how the process wasn’t as difficult as I was anticipating. If I have the time, I may do the swap on Goliath myself. While he was busy performing the work, I took advantage of the time to add the tire liner, so now I can avoid another ugly flat.

Seriously, the fact that Joe sent over his mechanic to my office to give me a hand is really impressive. He did a great job too. I never expected that level of service and am most thankful for his generosity. I don’t know Joe terribly well, but he’s always been very forthright and honest and generous. Thanks again, Joe!
