I called Sturmey-Archer’s California office today and my call was quickly fielded by a very friendly and knowledgeable chap who provided great help. He directed me to their distributor for new 25T rear hub sprockets (to lower my gearing from the 23T currently on the bikes) and offered to mail a new brake arm to me at no charge! That’s fantastic. They don’t sell the arm by itself –you have to buy the drum assembly to get the arm– but there were sample hubs on his desk that he occasionally uses for parts. That’s above and beyond the call of duty and most appreciated. I expected to have to pay for the part as it really was due to my own stupidity that it broke. He easily could have directed me to the distributor to buy a whole new drum assembly, but instead decided to help a schmuck out. I really appreciate that level of service and look forward to purchasing two new sprockets!

Just got back from River City Bicycles, where I ordered two 25T sprockets for the tomato twins. Total price: $7. Sweet! They’ll be shipped directly from the distributor in Ashland, Oregon (United Bicycle Supply). I look forward to testing out this 25R/32F combo soon. I’ll post an update as soon as I get them installed. The Sturmey documentation is pretty decent, so I hope to be able to tackle this without much issue.
